Privacy Policy
The short version: this app collects nothing. It has no account, no server and no analytics. Everything you enter stays in a database on your phone. We never receive it, so we could not share or sell it even if we wanted to.
What this app is
Secure Assets is an offline tool for tracking what you own: bank balances, deposits, investments, property, gold and anything else you choose to record. It exists so you can keep that picture in one place without handing it to anyone.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, receive, transmit, store or process any personal information about you. Specifically, the app has:
- no account, sign-in, or registration
- no analytics or crash reporting
- no advertising
- no tracking or profiling of any kind
- no server that we operate and no cloud storage
What is stored, and where
The assets you enter (their names, amounts and categories) are written to a database file inside the app's private storage on your device. Android prevents other apps from reading it. It is never uploaded.
Automatic backup is switched off, so Android does not copy this database to Google Drive.
Internet access
This version of the app does not request Android's internet permission. It therefore cannot make a network connection at all. That is enforced by the operating system rather than promised by us, and you can confirm it yourself: the app lists no network permission on its Google Play listing or in Android's app info screen.
Voice input, which is the one exception
If you choose to add an asset by voice, the app uses Android's own speech recognition service to turn what you say into text. On most phones that service sends the audio to Google for processing, under Google's privacy policy, not ours. We never receive the audio or the transcription; the app only sees the finished text on your device.
This is entirely optional. Typing an asset involves no third party at all. You can also deny the microphone permission and the rest of the app works normally.
Permissions
- Microphone (
RECORD_AUDIO) - used only while you are actively dictating an asset, and only if you grant it. Optional.
The app requests no other permissions.
Sharing
We share nothing, because we hold nothing. No third parties, no advertisers, no data brokers, no legal disclosures, because there is no data in our possession to disclose.
Children
This app is intended for adults managing their own finances and is not directed at children. Since it collects no information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Backups you make yourself
Settings has an Export option that writes every asset to a CSV file, wherever you choose to save it. Nothing is backed up automatically, and the app never uploads anything: the file goes only where you put it. You can bring one back later with Restore, which shows you exactly what will change before anything is written and never deletes anything.
An exported file is not protected. It is ordinary readable text, so anyone who opens it can see every asset and amount. We cannot protect it once it leaves the app. Keep it somewhere you would be happy keeping a bank statement, and be careful about sending it through anything you would not trust with one.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app removes its database along with it. You can also clear it from Android Settings → Apps → Secure Assets → Storage → Clear data. There is nothing to request from us, because there is nothing held anywhere else.
Worth stating plainly: if you uninstall the app or lose the device and have not exported a backup yourself, your data is gone. There is no copy for us to restore, because we never had one.
Any backup file you exported is yours alone, and deleting the app does not remove it. Delete those files separately if you no longer want them.
Security
Your data is held in the app's private storage area, which Android isolates from other applications. Note that it is not separately encrypted at rest, so a person with full access to an unlocked or rooted device could read it. Keeping a screen lock on your phone is the meaningful protection here.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes what it does with data, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's own privacy screen.
